Waiting
I wait and watch
knowing that you are out there
wanting to know where I am
and what I am doing.
I wait and watch
knowing that when you find me
you will want more of me
than I am willing to give.
I wait and watch
knowing that I cannot escape you
for you know where I go
and I cannot hide.
I wait and watch
knowing you hold me captive
to bid your calling and suit your needs
and I will never be alone.
I wait and watch
and you are always there.

Well written and very creepy.

Thank you. I sort of had the image that this was someone who was mentally unstable, thinking someone was out there watching and waiting.

This is how I feel about my state government right now, with all the worsening COVID restrictions…

Well, it can’t be any worse than the full lockdown the last time. At least this time around we know how it gets spread for the most part.

True… but they’re talking curfew here (although it hasn’t happened yet as of this morning), and that’s worse than anything we’ve had before.

Do you have a Republican governor? Just asking because we have had a curfew and RI just put one into place.

No; a Republican governor would probably have more respect for freedom and separation of powers. My governor is the NTAC Coriolanus Snow wannabe who talks down to everyone condescendingly and gives us more and more rules but just got caught breaking his own rules, followed by a very insincere non-apology. We locked down so early in the spring that we didn’t get it as bad as the Northeast did back then, and we were doing better than much of the country until a few weeks ago.

Woah, so perfect for the prompt. The desperation and fear.

I really like what you did with the prompt! I feel her creeping paranoia…
