Questions
Is any one person’s life worth more than another’s? Why or why not? I think it all depends on what is at stake. My daughter is more valuable to me than other girls her age, especially ones I don’t know. No one deserves to die or be killed, unless God decides. But, as I have learned the hard way, any one person can be gone in a flash and it isn’t until this time that we can see 100% of the value.
Can a good person do evil things and remain a good person? Under what circumstances? What is evil? I mean it is evil to kill another person but when Osama Bin Laden was killed it was to keep people safe. Are killers evil? Sure, most of them I presume. But what about the spouse that kills the other spouse after being abused? It is an evil gesture but they aren’t an evil person. People who rob other people are doing something evil, taking what is not theirs, but what about the person who hasn’t had food in a few days and without thinking saw an opportunity? They aren’t necessarily evil, they are probably not in their right mind being so impoverished. I think a lot of it is intention. What you did, was in intended to hurt someone purposely? Is that person in their right mind to even know?
Is somebody morally culpable if they take a morally wrong action at the orders of a superior? What if their life is at stake? I think it would only be if their life is immediately at risk and there are no other options then something may have to happen. Is it right? no. If someone was holding a gun to me and said I had to kill someone or be killed I think I would let them kill me. I don’t want to kill someone. I guess it also depends on what the action is. Is it something that can be repaired? Is it something that can never be taken back? If you are told to rob a bank or be killed, I’d rob the bank, but the only thing that would be physically hurt is the cash. I don’t know….there are so many parameters to consider. I would hope and pray I would never be put in a situation like that.
People had widely mixed opinions about illegal bananas, so let’s take that a step further this week: What would be the worst thing for a government to make illegal? Water.
Thank you Christine for Sharing Your World! Very deep answers and that last one sent a literal shiver down my spine. 😮 I hope that never occurs, but you can never tell either. We’re too stupid as a species to get out of our own way with such precious resources it seems. Most of the questions today were very philosophical and I hope they were thought provoking. The illegal one has garnered some very interesting answers thus far! Thank you for participating and have a great week!

I think that is why I like this so much…you give me things to think about that I probably wouldn’t otherwise.
