The Cat Learns a Lesson
The Cat in the Hat
knew not what to do
when the boy and the girl
were busy in school.
He tried to tell them
to say they were sick
They told him that was
an old, useless trick.
The Cat was so desperate
to have them each day
He really didn’t care
‘bout his unorthodox way.
The boy and the girl
said they really must be
in school every day
not watching TV.
They knew if they didn’t
get an education
their future was bland
without a nice vacation.
The Cat bowed his head
‘cause he knew they were right
He told them from now on
He’d see them at night.
