O’Malley
There once was a man in the alley
Who thought that he might go to Cali
We never did find
What changed his mind
We did learn his name was O’Malley

Cali, Colombia, or California? No one in California calls it Cali.

Well, since I have never been to anywhere with that name…I have no idea. I thought people say Cali for California! Or is that just East Coast lingo?

I’ve heard people say it, but I grew up in California and had never heard anyone say it until I started communicating with people in other states on the Internet. I was also told it might be a southern California expression more so than where I grew up… I don’t seem to hear it much around people from there either, but I don’t spend enough time down there to confirm or deny this.
But, on a related note, I can confirm that no one in San Francisco calls it Frisco. I’ve even seen a dictionary define Frisco as “short for San Francisco; not a local usage.”

Haha, that is funny because I can almost hear someone saying it in my head but if people from there don’t even say it, it is ridiculous.
