Darkness
Ode to the tree that stands high on the hill
holding the moon in its branches.
Ode to the clouds that float right by the tree
holding the moon in the sky.
Ode to the setting sun that sets in the west
holding a bit of sunlight for the moon.
Layers of darkness
Life moves slowly around us
Sharing the sun’s light
Darkness only hides the beauty from our eyes.

I love the way everything in this is connected and interdependent. We only need to see through the darkness. Beautiful.

Very nicely penned. “Ode to the tree that stands high on the hill”. Absolutely! They take so much from Mother Earth. 🙂

This is so true! We have live oak tree in downtown Jacksonville called The Treaty Oak and is believed to be 250 years old. https://www.atlasobscura.com/places/treaty-oak

Nothing. I have been in St. Petes for the past two weeks with my dad and step mother. She went to the hospital and my poor father had no idea what was going on. With the dementia every morning is a whole new story. Groundhogs day. Other than that I have no idea because I have to get my house fixed up. I have a feeling I won’t be putting it on the market until March 1 unless David gets a job sooner. If he were to get a job we could go and sell it at the same time. Jobs are not plentiful though. He is in sales. The thought of another winter up north makes me want to throw up!

Oh I’m so sorry you are going through that. My mom had dementia before her stroke that killed her and my dad died of Alzheimer’s. Jobs are non-existent. I hope things get better & you can get settled. 💜

Yes, I do! Except, I was dealing with my dad over the phone through his disease. He was in Hawaii and I couldn’t just get up and fly over there to take care of him. My mom, I travelled back & forth to Texas but mostly had to do the reminding over the phone plus she had a nurse that came in 3 times a week. She hadn’t gotten super bad when she had her stroke.

Darkness needs light and vice-versa. It’s a lovely piece, Christine.
