This is new prompt for me, so I am super excited to be involved. It is written for Grammy’s Grid: https://grammysgrid.com/wednesday-writing-prompt-linkup-animal-75-words/
When I was little
When I was little
I imagined my animals
could understand my words
and wash away my tears.
When I was a little older
I imagined I was little
and there were animals
who could understand my words
and wash away my tears.
Now as an adult
I realize even when I was older
and remembered being little
it was okay
to imagine there were animals
who could understand my words
and wash away my tears.

WOW, I love this!! I still have the floppy bear I purchased when I got divorced (1978), “Manhattan” never failed to comfort with wise words 🙂

Rhen, I am glad you have that same belief as me! Haha, what does it hurt to have a friend? Especially one that doesn’t talk except to say things we want to imagine we hear! Lol

Exactly! And last year I got Manhattan a little friend–cute squishy koala bear I named Pax…because he’s also wise and peaceful 🙂 At Christmas I added a small hedgehog–cutest thing ever, very quiet, sleeps a lot!! 🙂 🙂 Take care of YOU! ❤

This is the fabulous. I love it so much. I just read it out loud to my Little Miss Eight, and she smiled the biggest smile. She insists that she can talk to animals and they talk back. This has brightened our day! Thank you 🙂

Thank you! I had a few friends growing up. I may still have one or two, in need of serious love, but still with me. I always thought of them as companions. When my daughter was younger you could always find her in her room with all of her favorite animals lined up for school! She would have them do math and reading! It was super cute. She would quickly do all the work so she could correct it for them!!! I miss them when they are little. I am glad my writing touched your daughter.
