The first poem is my entry of 44 words:
The Roar of the World
When the roar of the world for you is just deafening
And you cannot think of a place that you’d rather be
Then find some solace, more peace, and pure comfort
In the arms of a loved one is where you would find me.

This second poem is the first one I wrote but with too many words for this challenge!
The Roar of the World
If the roar of the crowd is too loud
And the peep of a mouse much too soft,
Maybe you just need to be
In bed up in a warm loft.
When the roar of silence is deafening
And the breeze that blows is too strong
Maybe you just need to be
In bed with a blanket and song.
When the roar of the world is just perfect
And there’s no place that you’d rather be
Then get out of bed just this moment
For there’s no profit for the lazy.

When everything roars, we all need the comfort of company.

The world is at times overwhelming, I like the train of thought here in finding solace in loved ones.

Good point about there being no profit for the lazy.

I appreciate your problem reducing a poem to 44 words. The quadrille always leaves me with the feeling of so much unsaid!! Both poems are good writes.

Love it! The process of whittling a poem down is such an important one. I like what you’ve kept here.
