Tiny Tale Bundle #3

This is inspired by/based on the VSS365 hashtag on Twitter which I learned about from the blog Lisa Stapleton.

Tiny Tale Bundle Rules:

  • There will be a prompt. This prompt might be a single word (which you will have to include in each story), a picture, a character, or something else.
  • I will write a ‘bundle’ of three different Tiny Tales inspired by the prompt.
  • The word limit is one hundred words.
  • If the prompt is a word, then I am allowed to use variations of the word, for example for the word “scratch,” the word “scratched” is okay too.
  • If you happen to want to do this challenge too, it would be appreciated if you linked back to my blog, as I did with the blog I got the basic idea from.
  • Optional: tag with #tinytalebundles
  • Optional: display the word count.

Some days there will be several prompts and you must incorporate both of them into each tiny tale. The prompts today are…

Ceiling

And…

Recover

Tiny Tales #1

Dwight could not believe he was there. How had he ended up in this room staring up at the ceiling? Was this where he was expected to recover? The last thing he remembered was hanging with Joe and talking about taking the pills. Where was Joe now? The whole night is a total blank after that point. Dwight took a deep breath, trying to calm his nerves so he could figure out where he was and how he got there. Someone would know.
As he lay there silent, he could not hear another human anywhere near him. Where was he?  (100 words)

Tiny Tale #2

Once upon a time there was a little elf named Slinky. Slinky was different than the other elves and because of this he was always alone. He didn’t mind being alone. He would stare up at the ceiling and imagine seeing faces that he could talk to. Sometimes they would talk back. At least the faces in the ceiling didn’t mind that Slinky was different, they were there to help him recover from his feelings of loss when he was told to go away. Slinky held onto the belief that someday he would be fully accepted for who he was.  (100 words)

Tiny Tale #3

Veva held onto the railing of the dock as she walked toward the boat. She was shaking in every part of her body, knowing that if she fell in, she would never recover. That’s what happened in the water. There were things under the docks and swimming under the boats, things that liked to eat humans as if they were nightcrawlers on the end of a hook. She didn’t want to go to the boat, floating above the water like a ceiling between two worlds. But Veva knew without stepping onto that boat she would be left here forever alone.  (100 words)
