Share Your World Meets Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

  1. Harry Potter can speak to snakes. If you were able to have conversations with any one animal, what animal would you like to speak to? What would be the topic of your first conversation? If I could talk to any animal I think it would have to be dogs. I just want to hear what they have to say about how they are treated and what they are really thinking. They always seem so happy, well the pets and the ones who are treated okay, but what really makes them happy? Is it their food or treats? Is it physical attention. I wish I had more money because I want to bring some of those poor dogs home from the shelters so they can die in a loving home.
  2. The portraits in Hogwart’s dormitories can talk. If your graduation portrait could speak to people passing it by, what would it tell them? My picture would be telling people passing by to stop and think about what they are doing and where they want to go. Really think about what kind of future you want, not what you think you should be. I wish I had that when I was in high school to see all the opportunities that were right in front of me.
  3. Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger use the Pollyjuice Potion for finding new clues for the happenings at Hogwarts. (The Pollyjuice Potion is a magic potion that allows your body to form into that of another and live their life for a few hours.) If you could transform into another being, who would you chose to be? What would you hope to learn?I think I would want to be a famous author. Maybe Graeme Base so I could figure out where his ideas come from and how he draws his fantastic illustrations.
  4. There was a flooding in the girl’s bathroom where Moaning Myrtle resides. What has been the most dangerous (or comical) ‘flooding’ where you reside? About six or eight years ago I had a work area set up in our basement where I made jewelry. I also had an area that had my cooking things, one spot for yarns, etc. I don’t remember if we heard a boom but the pipe that carries waste to the septic tank busted and exploded into the basement. Apparently, the pipe the builder used for the septic was the wrong size. Over all the years it just weakened and weakened…Until it was all over my basement. The point that actually broke, or exploded, was the part of the pipe directly over my craft areas. It was so gross. I don’t even know how much “money” I lost after that.

Mundane or “Muggle” Questions:

(Serious one which is rather creepy):  How do you think you’ll die?  IF you do think about it? I try not to think about it. But I think I will die of old age.

What’s the best on-line screen name you’ve seen? “Best might mean the oddest. I can’t think of any names…Chewy maybe, from Star Wars…Nemo maybe…There are so many characters in the Disney “world” that would qualify.

What’s invisible that you wish people could see? Stupidity. Maybe a visible scale that floats above your head.

If over time you replace parts on a car, at what point does it stop being the same car you bought? How many parts do you need to replace to make it a new car? It’s not a new car until you replace the outside of it. All the inside parts are made in such bulk so that doesn’t matter. It’s really just the outside of the car that you see, that you really bought.

For the next several weeks “Share Your World” will have two parts.  The awesome blogger, Roger Shipp, is the creator and host (if you will) of the first part.   He found a unique way of passing some of the quarantine time and that was from watching ALL the “Harry Potter” movies.   He came up with some really fun and intriguing questions (four a week for each movie) about the movie in question.   This week we visit “The Chamber of Secrets”.   I’m going to link to Roger‘s blog so you can post your link over on his blog OR you can do it here as usual.

I’m reiterating last week’s ‘disclaimer’:  Now I realize some folks have never seen nor read a single book or seen any movie about Harry Potter.   Therefore I’m going to do three or four ‘regular’ questions for folks who aren’t Harry fans.  It’s cool to do both sets OR just one or the other, as you wish.

Questions:

What will finally break the Internet?  Do you believe it can be broken at all?

online porn…it is so rampant that its going to start being a normal thing to show up in your feed, people will get disgusted with it. If this doesn’t break it then its really sad.

What are some ‘red flags’ to watch out for in daily life?  (take it as you want)

Red flags: bugs getting in the house, leaving the light on outside at night so the moths come in the house, Donald Trump supporters boasting any sort of lead he might have

What’s the silliest thing someone has argued with you about?

A friend told me back in college that my boyfriend saw her at a bar and admitted to cheating on me. We then had a huge fight about whether she was telling the truth.

What’s the strangest thing you’ve found lying on the ground / side of the road?

One shoe…Where’s the other one? How do you lose only one?

Gratitude Section (optional as always)

Please feel free to share your photos, stories, poetry, or memes that promote gratitude!

I am grateful for my daughter and her ability to support me even though I am her mother and should be supporting her.

Welcome to Share Your World!

Melanie will post four or five different questions each week for you to answer.  There are two ways which you can participate. https://sparksfromacombustiblemind.com/2020/05/18/share-your-world-5-18-2020/

  1. Create a Share Your World post.  Then post the link to that blog post or leave your answers in the comments box of her blog.
  2. To make it easy for others to check out your post, title your blog post “Share Your World”  and link it to this post.
  3.  Ping-backs are activated, but how efficiently varies.  For instructions on how ping-backs work, in case you weren’t certain, please click here.  You may wish to leave a link to your blog post in the comments just to be sure.  Thanks!

This weeks questions

Questions:

What’s something you really resent paying for? Does it have to be just one? For a recent purchase I resent that I paid for the Lucy Tool. It is not what they advertise. For a past purchase I would say the cosmetic surgery I had. It was so not worth it, horrible then, fine now, but unnecessary!

What was the most unsettling film you’ve seen? The Experiment starring Forest Whitaker https://youtu.be/oi22xiNAfD0 and then Saw https://youtu.be/S-1QgOMQ-ls

Do you judge people?  Yes but I keep it to myself until I know for sure.

Finish this sentence:  “Back in my day, we…”? Back in the day, we used to play outside all day, every day and if we were thirsty someone always had a garden hose! We never went in other kids’ homes unless some strange emergency, and we didn’t snack like kids do today. If we were hungry we would eat those clover flowers and I don’t know what else, but there were no snacks!

Gratitude

Please feel free to share an uplifting photo, thought or meme to show your own gratitude.   We can all use some good vibes!

gratexpressed

I am grateful for David who helped me clear my flowerbeds of leaves, without me asking, because that was the first time (at least that I can remember) that I had help doing it. I remember Bob helping a few times after I pleaded for help! Lol! Most of the time I never really asked for help, I just did it by myself. This year, David did it and told me he did it after he was already done! Woo Hoo!!!!

I am also grateful for my mail lady – Summer – because I order almost everything and she puts everything neatly on my deck, year round. I don’t know her last name. I left her a gift card about two weeks ago and I haven’t seen her since. I hope she got it. Otherwise someone is enjoying Dunkin’ instead of her!

Questions:

  • I asked this on an award thingie I was nominated for, and I got such interesting responses, I thought I’d ask it on Share Your World too:  Do you have a favorite kind of tree? White Birch. I don’t really know why, I just love the way the bark has the black hash marks.
  • What bridges are you happy you burned? My college group of friends. They held so many grudges and their perceptions were so unlike mine that it became toxic. I used to cry about why this one won’t talk to me, or that one will. One of the group, who was like my best friend, got pregnant shortly after I had my second child. I crocheted a blanket and sent the gift to the shower. At the time Bob and I were both working full time and still struggling to pay bills, etc. I didn’t go to the baby shower because I would have had to take a shift off of work, I waitressed at the time. About a year later I saw this friend. I asked her what she had, she said a boy. I asked if she liked the blanket I made. She said she never even opened the box, it was up in the closet, because she was mad at me for not going to her baby shower.
  • Would you sacrifice yourself (die) for a stranger? Honestly, I don’t know. I mean if it was like going to work at a hospital where patients have COVID-19 then yes. If it was for the life of a child I think that would be a yes. But in the scheme of things who really knows? I think years ago it would have been more of a definite yes but now that my daughter has lost her father and her brother, I would be so afraid of leaving her with no-one.
  • How have your priorities changed since the C-19 virus took over? Not so much my priorities but my time management has. I realize also that I don’t need to do all the running around, shopping for things I don’t need.

I am grateful for: David and my daughter, my fairly healthy body, and the few friends who show me that they care about me just as much as I care about them.

QUESTIONS

1. What do you do to get rid of stress? I work on my miniature kits or I blog. I also journal but sometimes that is too stressful and I just need to leave thoughts aside for a bit.

2. In the past people were buried with the items they would need in the afterlife, what would you want buried with you so you could use it in the afterlife? I think I would want to be buried with the ashes of my loved ones, so that we could all be together. Other than that I am hoping God has a good supply!

3. What’s the opposite of a koala?  (this is strictly for fun.  I know what I came up with as an answer, but it was nonsensical.   Alaok.  See?   It’s okay to pass on this one too if you want) a hotala, but now that I wrote it that is sort of a bad joke. I am trying to support Australia’s efforts to bring back forests for the Koalas.

4. What’s the creepiest tech out there?  (My interpretation of “tech” is app or program.  If you know what “tech” is supposed to mean, hey!  Great!   Educate us.  I think the creepiest, except being very handy, tech is when you can hook tech help with your computer for remote access. Are they then watching me?

What Wastes The Most Time In Your Day To Day Life?

Do They Bury People With Their Braces* On?   (* “braces” in this scenario are those metal bits they put on people to straighten their teeth.   I realize “braces” are also some item of clothing that I believe men wear to keep their socks up or something.  I’m talking about the teeth option).

Melanie, thank you for the questions this week!

Questions: https://sparksfromacombustiblemind.com/2020/03/09/share-your-world-3-9-2020/

Are you a sweet, sour, tangy or other type of person?  Take that as you will! 😉

I am usually a sweet person. I can get tangy when feeling compelled but I typically laugh at myself and return to normal. I try not to be sour, at least not on the outside. I don’t mind sharing my problems but there is a line between expressing and whining, in my opinion.

Does the whole coronavirus phenomenon worry you?  Or are you more a “meh – it’s just another severe flu scare” type of person?

I am nervous about it in the sense that I just cancelled a flight and will now be driving south. I don’t want to be in such close quarters as an airplane when so many people could be carrying the virus and perhaps don’t wash hands, etc. like they should. I’m also a bit more concerned because so much is still unknown. I have people in my life who are elderly, who have suppressed immune systems, etc., as do most people, and I don’t want to be a carrier or someone to spread it unknowingly.

When was the last time you were snooping, and found something you wish you hadn’t?

This has been quite a long time. I think probably about 5 years or so I found an empty liquor bottle under my son’s bed. Needless to say, rest his soul, that was not the only bottle ever left there!

What’s the most pleasant sounding accent in your personal opinion?   Everyone has a pleasing accent to someone!

What are my choices? Lol!
