This week my question is;
What are your ambitions for the coming year?
This question sounds very much like- New Year’s resolutions! But this is slightly different- plans are concrete and resolutions are based on desires ( I think)!
I guess I have two main ambitions:
- To make more miniatures and capture more hearts doing so. When I get discouraged that maybe I haven’t sold anything in a while I think about the millions or billions of people in the world that haven’t seen my work yet and I get a small jolt of excitement for all those new eyes.
- To have somewhat of a sustainable income through my freelance work that I have just begun. I need an income but besides a fast food place or Walmart there are not that many options right now.

Your miniatures are delightful Christine! I hope more people discover your talent! You are right about the type of jobs available. Most are part-time service industry positions – sales clerks, cashiers, and fast food workers. None of which offer more than minimum wage and no insurance…

For the past two years when we were in FL and I worked for the Pittsburgh Pirates, I was making less than minimum wage but the job was fun and easy so it wasn’t a big deal to me. I can’t even imagine working at Walmart of something! I don’t know if they retain their management but I’ve heard they are not too supportive.

My plans for the new year are not to break any limbs, have the gumption when asked to tell my upstairs neighbor that yes her grandkids are too loud (driving me to a headache after yesterday continuing today🙄), trying to stay on kidney and cardiac diets which contradict each other😵💫, and listen to less political news. Happy new year Sadje!

Thank you. I do love making them. My latest bigger one just got destroyed on the way to Ohio. I am hoping to get the claim accepted to get the money back to my customer because I don’t have it for her! Besides the money though is all of my work down the drain!

I’m crossing my fingers and toes that the insurance goes through! I won’t get back any of my time or anything but it also won’t be money that I have to give out of my now negative balance for this customer.

So far I have applied for jobs mostly copy editing and proofreading. Some jobs I applied for are for ghost writing. Just trying to find something I really like. I’m on Upwork. I went through a training program to learn how to get into this, hopefully successfully.

Thank you! The latest one I made and sold was a custom order and it got destroyed in the mail. I am heartbroken but I am hoping the insurance claim goes through because I don’t really have to money for the refund on top of everything! Unfortunately, the customer will probably get her money back but I don’t get anything for my time or work put in.

You’re welcome! That was very unfortunate. I do hope you don’t have to pay for the refund.
