WordPress Question of the Day

Describe the most ambitious DIY project you’ve ever taken on.

Last fall I had an offer from a publisher to publish a children’s picture book I wrote. The problem was that they wanted to have it illustrated for the submission. A friend of mine is an artist and has illustrated books before. We talked and decided that she would draw my illustration and I would build her three daughters each their own miniature.
The reason this was the most ambitious projects is because I was starting from scratch and wanted them all to be different yet match their interests and likes. I think they came out great but…
the publishers offered me a hybrid contract which means I would pay up front and then get money after it was published. Been there, done that…

Anyhow, these are the three miniatures I made

  1. I was thinking of you the other day Christine when we saw Miniatures in the garden centre arts and crafts section. They were kits you put together and some were awesome. The price was awesome too………………… £60 and higher! Have you thought about going in this direction, or keeping yours as personal bespoke items? I love your creations.

    1. I sell them on my shop on Etsy. Do you mean selling them at a craft fair or something? I have definitely wanted to do that but haven’t had a chance. Theres always something going on and I don’t really know many people around here yet to ask. It is in the back of my mind. Did you take any pictures?

      1. No pictures I’m afraid., but the garden centre have an Arts and Crafts section (wools, cross stitch etc) and these were in there along with the model kits and jigsaw puzzles. We often have an Arts and Crafts fair in one of the village halls and Hubby suggested I set up a stall with my cards. Looking into it, there is a need for insurance to cover per exhibit which makes it a little expensive.
