My friend asked me nicely if she and her son
could stay at my house like she’d previously done
and I couldn’t say no since she happened to be
The owner and landlord, the kind you don’t see.
Having the house swap was a strain in itself
Like changing the spot for your elf on the shelf
Like breaking the chain of supposed events
Like paying a mortgage instead of high rents
But the biggest dilemma starts right from the start
From a sanctimonious sister who plays no real part
In my life as I see it, along with the rites
Like the big ugly bumps from a mosquito bug’s bites
For she lives in the basement and never pays rent
for all of her money has already been spent.

Yikes! I think I’d be driven mad!! Wonderful poem that describes it all in a delightful rhyme and rhythm!
