Mango Leaf

This is written in response to Michnavs introduction to Kay Ryan’s poetry. I loved Ryan’s poem “Turtle”. This is my attempt at that form.

Mango Leaf

Born by a bud
hanging
by a tiny lifeline
only to be pulled
by a wind too strong
for you to stand
up to
only to end up
floating on
a chemically treated
water surface
called my pool.
