ON MAY 7: FLASH FICTION CHALLENGE

Nourishment in my kitchen
For years I had a compost bin. It was out in my garden and it was big. I didn’t know much about composting, so I did not know I had to turn it often. When I had my house on the market the garden and the compost bin got dismantled.
I bought a new compost bin for outside. I also bought one that goes on my counter. Every few days I push the spout and a liquid comes out. I mix this with water and use it to nourish my houseplants. I love watching all things from nature grow.
Composting can be as consuming a hobby as gardening. But both hobbies produce. I love that you went to compost. You have to nourish the soil that nourishes the plants that nourish…

I used to have chickens so everything went to them and then I had their “compost”. I hate how much garbage one individual generates in a day. That being said, I would love to reuse as much as possible.

There’s a circle of life in decay nourishing growth in plants. Nice take on the prompt!

I learned something new here today. The liquid from the compost becomes food for house plants. I do know from an organic producer that peeing in a bucket and feeding your (outdoor) compost bin with it once a week, breaks it down quicker and makes it oober rich. Nice response to the prompt.
