“Not yesterday I learned to know
The love of bare November days
Before the coming of the snow”
Granny looked like she had just fallen asleep and Benny didn’t want to wake her. He was old enough now to know that the cold winter months made Granny’s back hurt and made her joints stiff. As he slowly slid off the couch he felt a hand grab his shoulder.
“Benny, don’t leave me now!”
“Okay Granny but you know we need to start the fire, its getting cold in here.”
“Not yesterday I learned to know the love of bare November days before the coming of the snow, just as you too will learn what beauty each season brings”
Benny didn’t reply, he didn’t need to, he knew Granny would slowly close her eyes again and fall back to sleep, as she’d done many times. But for now he would sit here while she slept and just watch out the windows for snow.

He’s a precious boy to sit with his grammy like that. I’m glad he is there for her.

It is great to be able to stay like that. So much is built by being together with someone sleeping.
