Jennifer’s prompt guidelines

  1. Form: Acrostic;
    • You may spell out the word “BOND” for your acrostic; any variation of this word (e.g. bonding, bound, bind); or any of its synonyms (e.g. connection, glue);
  2. Theme: Your poem should be about something or someone you are bound to or share a bond with. Alternatively, you may write about two or more things that are bound together.

All of my love

Before you passed you were my world
Our love was meant to last forever
Now I only have my memories
Destined to remember you forever

Because of you I have moved forward
Out of need, I didn’t choose to lose anyone
Unable to resist your love and friendship
Never needing to explain my past
Destined to stay together from this day forward

Belief in each other
Investing in our future
Never giving up on love
Destined to have a future
Imagining the best
Nurturing our relationship
Giving each other our best

I wrote this because tomorrow is my wedding anniversary with my late husband, Bob. It would have been 28 years but it was cut short.
Shortly after my terrible loss, I was lucky enough to meet another loving man, David.
I had a strong bond
I am now bound by love
Our present life together is binding.

  1. Christine, the way you express the deep bond and lasting love is so touching.

    The repetition of “Destined” throughout really emphasizes the strength and permanence of that connection. Such a lovely and moving poem!

    Also, I wanna let you know that this week’s W3, hosted by the wonderful Sarah Whiley, is now live:
