And one for fun….

The Cat in the Pub

The Cat in the Hat was ready for fun
The kids were quite sure their chores were all done
They went to the park and then to the zoo
There were many places and things they could do
A stop at the pub gave quite the surprise
The kids could not laugh, they had tears in their eyes
The brew they had tasted was bitter and sour
They still looked so sad even after one hour!
The Cat wished the kids had just never tried
the drink with the ice roughly stirred to one side
And so to make up for that sheer awful shock
He gave them a package secure with a lock
The lock wouldn’t budge and the kids were so mad
They just couldn’t handle the bad day that they had
He found a wood stick and he jimmied the hole
And out fell his hat and a very long pole
The pole he would use to help hold himself up
He was just so tired, all his energy used up
And just like a flame that goes out with one blow
He knew that the time came, the time came to go
So he brought the kids home and he told them goodnight
He hoped they would not give their mother a fight
about brushing their teeth and combing their hair
He’d be back tomorrow and they knew he’d be there!
