Welcome to the 6-minute challenge!
Today’s prompt is:
This is a picture of a cat that is cross-eyed because it is looking at a fly on its own nose.
*****For any participants that do NOT like restrictions, please feel free to participate in any way you would like. It is great to read the contributions!****
- Set up a timer or sit near a clock so you can keep track of the six minutes you will be writing.
- You can either use one of the prompts (photo or written) or you can free-write.
- Get ready and write for 6 minutes, that is it! Can you write a complete story? Can you think of a new Sonnet? Can you write 400 words? 400? 500? There are no restrictions on what kind of writing you do, but you should try to be actively writing for six minutes.
- After you are done writing, include your word count and then post back to this page #Simply6Minutes or include your link in the comments section. Pingbacks are enabled.
- *Feel free to leave your work completely unedited. I believe it is good to see, especially for new writers, that even very seasoned writers don’t write a perfect first draft.*
- Have fun, challenge yourself if you’d like, read and respond to others’ posts.
Thank you for participating!

[…] Jeffery had reached his senior years, which is an extraordinary event according to typical cat lifespans. He’d lost some of his “cattly” skills and was currently dealing with age related nearsightedness. His world had become reduced but not entirely uninteresting. What he could notice with whiskers and the lessening of energized spontaneous motion, still made him happy. He long ago had come to rely on his “human staff” as his hunters and protectors. So, when a fly climbed onto his face, he was startled but not at all frightened. As luck would have it, his nearsightedness and resent calmer existence, gave him a chance to explore a world he’d always been too busy to notice. He watched the fly for a while feeling more entertained by it than chasing mice had once done. Jeffery realized that growing old, and somewhat blind, wasn’t as much an “end” to a fortunate life but just a “change” of focus in it.He purred as he groomed himself for bed hoping, for the first time, he might discover an entertaining flea. https://christinebialczak.com/2024/01/16/simply-6-minutes-welcome-to-the-challenge-01-16-2024/ […]
