*****For any participants that do NOT like restrictions, please feel free to participate in any way you would like. It is great to read the contributions!****

  1. Set up a timer or sit near a clock so you can keep track of the six minutes you will be writing.
  2. You can either use one of the prompts (photo or written) or you can free-write.
  3. Get ready and write for 6 minutes, that is it! Can you write a complete story? Can you think of a new Sonnet? Can you write 400 words? 400? 500? There are no restrictions on what kind of writing you do, but you should try to be actively writing for six minutes.
  4. After you are done writing, include your word count and then post back to this page #Simply6Minutes or include your link in the comments section. Pingbacks are enabled.
  5. *Feel free to leave your work completely unedited. I believe it is good to see, especially for new writers, that even very seasoned writers don’t write a perfect first draft.*
  6. Have fun, challenge yourself if you’d like, read and respond to others’ posts.

Thank you for participating!

  1. […] Reese had had a vibrant recurring dream when she was a little girl. A pastel rainbow-colored stairway lifted away from the beachfront where her family lived and traced off through the clouds above the ocean.Every time she had the dream, Reese started out on an enchanted climb only to hearing her parents arguing with voices getting louder and harsher as the clouds started to cover her bare toes. She had shouted toward the top for them to stop and was never heard. The dream always ended as she raced back to the beach falling headlong into the sand. Each time, she’d forgotten that the dream would end that same way, so, she’d awaken sad, and disheartened, and disappointed by it all over again.Years, many years, finally passed and that dream had become long forgotten. She was 72 when she laid her remaining parent to rest and her once familiar, yet dreaded, dream came back. Up the star case she climbed in a hesitant pace. Her toes, then her hips became enveloped in the clouds. There was only the sound of her heart beating as she finally (for the first time) reached the top. The sun beyond the horizon, illuminated two dark figures walking toward her arm in arm. They waved to her and blew a kiss dissolving into the mist. Reese woke up feeling weightlessly happy and whole the next morning. Better than she had for an extremely long time.https://christinebialczak.com/2024/01/09/simply-6-minutes-welcome-to-the-challenge-01-09-2024/ […]
