Welcome to the 6-minute challenge!
Today’s prompt is:
This is a picture of a tree with goats up in all the branches!
*****For any participants that do NOT like restrictions, please feel free to participate in any way you would like. It is great to read the contributions!****
- Set up a timer or sit near a clock so you can keep track of the six minutes you will be writing.
- You can either use one of the prompts (photo or written) or you can free-write.
- Get ready and write for 6 minutes, that is it! Can you write a complete story? Can you think of a new Sonnet? Can you write 400 words? 400? 500? There are no restrictions on what kind of writing you do, but you should try to be actively writing for six minutes.
- After you are done writing, include your word count and then post back to this page #Simply6Minutes or include your link in the comments section. Pingbacks are enabled.
- *Feel free to leave your work completely unedited. I believe it is good to see, especially for new writers, that even very seasoned writers don’t write a perfect first draft.*
- Have fun, challenge yourself if you’d like, read and respond to others’ posts.
Thank you for participating!

I’ve heard of a horse chestnut, catkin and dogrose but never a goat tree!

[…] This was my first safari. The tour guide driving the jeep seemed to have his head on a swivel. I was getting dizzy watching his head and attention bouncing back and forth so I asked him, “What are you looking for?”He replied, “For the goats, ma’am. I watch for goats.”“Goats? “I thought.I pressed him further, “I was told there may be rhinos, lions, and skulking leopards, but what’s so scary about goats?”“Ma’am, I watch for goats.”“If I wanted to see goats, I would have gone to the petting zoo! What kind of a safari is this?”That’s when the jeep came to a screeching halt and the guide grabbed his rifle.“See the goats? They know.”There before me was a tree with a small herd of goats littering its branches like Christmas ornaments. Then all “hell” broke loose! The guide snapped his rifle to his shoulder intercepting a charging lion with a shot! He didn’t kill it but made it change course disappearing into the bush.“See, goats know much.”I’ll never look at goats the same way ever again! https://christinebialczak.com/2023/12/05/simply-6-minutes-welcome-to-the-challenge-12-05-2023/# […]
