Simply 6 Minutes – Welcome to the Challenge: 11/14/2023

Welcome to the 6-minute challenge!

Today’s prompt is:

Tara Wray's Weirdly Beautiful Photos of Rural Vermont - VICE

This is a picture of an elderly lady in the backseat of a car with curlers in her hair. She looks happy.

*****For any participants that do NOT like restrictions, please feel free to participate in any way you would like. It is great to read the contributions!****

  1. Set up a timer or sit near a clock so you can keep track of the six minutes you will be writing.
  2. You can either use one of the prompts (photo or written) or you can free-write.
  3. Get ready and write for 6 minutes, that is it! Can you write a complete story? Can you think of a new Sonnet? Can you write 400 words? 400? 500? There are no restrictions on what kind of writing you do, but you should try to be actively writing for six minutes.
  4. After you are done writing, include your word count and then post back to this page #Simply6Minutes or include your link in the comments section. Pingbacks are enabled.
  5. *Feel free to leave your work completely unedited. I believe it is good to see, especially for new writers, that even very seasoned writers don’t write a perfect first draft.*
  6. Have fun, challenge yourself if you’d like, read and respond to others’ posts.

Thank you for participating!

  1. […] Mona’s days were a series of routines always starting with a prayer and then ‘setting up’ her hair. It gave her meaning but never a thrill. When she heard a disturbance out front, Mona rushed to the window. There were 2 police cruisers and a crowd at her neighbor’s house. She excitedly rushed out to see what was happening finding a loud domestic disturbance where two elderly sisters were screaming at the top of their lungs accusing each other of stealing her boyfriend. The “boyfriend” named Willard ended up standing beside her with his hat in his hands shaking his head. Mona had seen him coming and going from the house over the last month. She’d even offered the handsome gentleman some iced tea once as he waited on the porch for one of them to come home.“Darned shameless hussies. How’d you get yourself involved with them?” Mona commiserated.” I didn’t. I was just their handyman and helper. That’s all. Hey, would you like to go get a breakfast bite at the drive-thru?”Mona grinned feeling giddily mischievous, “I’ll grab my purse. We’ll bring it back to my house. Please be sure to park out front when we return.”https://christinebialczak.com/2023/11/14/simply-6-minutes-welcome-to-the-challenge-11-14-2023/# […]
