You cannot pluck moonlight to bring in your pocket!
Helen Hoyt – October Letter
Thinking of my todays and my yesterdays
the things I remember and the things still yet to learn
You came into my life and gave me twenty good years
two sweet children and countless memories.
You left this world and left me with memories of old
and the feeling that it was okay to move on.
“You cannot pluck moonlight to bring in your pocket”
just as I cannot reach out and find you.
You sent me someone new and gave me your blessing
knowing that someday we will meet again
For now, I am not replacing love, I am adding to it
like the sky adds stars, never leaving the night alone.

Beautiful and heart-breaking, Christine. I love the thought that one doesn’t replace love but ‘adds to it ‘like the sky adds stars, never leaving the night alone’.

Thank you for your thoughts. When I think of loss I also have to think of what is still here. It is sometimes a hard balance!

I believe it. I mean, no one would hope that someone would remain sad and alone if they left.
