We are having work done on our pool and with the heat things have been going so slowly. Last week one of the guys working had to go to the ER. His coworker actually called for an ambulance. We didn’t know if he was having a heart attack! The firetruck got here first and I was truly disappointed with the attitude of the firefighters. I thought they were terribly un-empathetic to this poor man who was in excruciating pain. When the EMTs got there he was pretty much screaming in pain and they just kept telling him to walk to the stretcher but made no move to help him. Again, I was disappointed at their lack of sympathy to this man who was probably scared out of his mind.
The man is going to be fine. Thank goodness!

This hits so close to home, my husband collapsed at work a few weeks ago and emergency services weren’t even going to send an ambulance at first! His co- workers had to call back to speak to someone else! Thank god he’s on the up and it wasn’t life threatening but imagine what could have happened!
Glad to hear your chap is doing better too.

Wow, your husband is lucky the others cared enough. It is truly amazing how desensitized these people get. Two years ago about I brought my dad to the ER because he said his chest hurt. It was at the peak of the pandemic. He was 89 and already progressed in Alzheimers. When we got to the ER he told the person at the door that he had aa stomach ache. I told them, no, he was complaining about his chest hurting. Well, who did they believe…yup, my dad. So we sat waiting for at least a half hour with him complaining before I made a big stink. The nurse that took us then was aggravated saying the guy at the door was not competent to do his job. I doubt they ever said anything to him though.

That’s so ridiculous, sorry you two were treated that way. Although effective, we shouldn’t have to make a huge fuss to get much needed healthcare!

No and especially when we pay so much to have it! My dad is 91 and healthy but still pays so much for healthcare.

Oh, I can’t even imagine paying for healthcare like that, I’ve seen some horror stories when the bills come in.

My mother passed away in 1994 and back then I saw some of her hospital bills and they were upwards of $40,000 for a treatment. It is crazy.

Wow, how is anyone supposed to afford that?! I know insurance pays a big chunk of it usually but… That just seems too much!

Maybe it would be helpful to talk to the supervisor at the fire department. People in pain and crisis, need compassion and assistance.

Yes, actually one time I almost got ran off the road by a fire truck who didn’t even look that I was coming. They didn’t have sirens on, just pulled out in front of me! I hate to sound like an old fart but its some of these young kids who don’t care about people around them.

The squeaky wheel gets the grease, and nothing like a complaint to join other similar complaints to get some needed changes. Your voice is important!

Wow. The first responders here don’t want you to walk to the ambulance! They basically make you ride the gurney and help you on too!

I was really surprised because Antonio, the pool guy, was literally howling in pain. We thought he was having a heart attack because his arms were sort of seizing up in muscle cramps. I helped him to the gurney. I have a few hypotheses about these EMT’s but I will keep my opinions to myself. 😳

Pretty unfeeling and insensitive of the emergency services. Must admit the ones we have had here have been really good.

I was disappointed as this was one of the first times dealing with them here in this town.

That sounds absolutely awful Christine, I am glad the guy is going to be alright.

Yes, I heard he was back in the shop. Hopefully the heat gives a little for when he has to come back. According to his boss the heat has been getting to a lot of the workers, it is inevitable.
