Patience – Tranquil Thursday #17

So here are your questions to ponder.

  1. Do you consider yourself a patient person? I am an extremely patient person if things are in motion. I do not like procrastinating because that I have no patience for and cannot stand.
  2. Do you lose patience more often with yourself or with others? I think I lose patience more with others because of the whole procrastination thing. I like to get things done and some people are more easy-going. I am able to hide my annoyance for the most part by talking myself out of it, reminding myself that it is my timeline I am worried about, not theirs, which is not really fair.
  3. What is it you have no patience for? procrastination and stupidity. Procrastination makes me crazy because if you want something done, just do it then its done and you don’t have to think about it. Stupidity is like the person who goes to the self-checkout and doesn’t know what to do. I mean, self-checkout is years old now and if you don’t know how to use it then go to a regular cashier. If someone is there and having issues I do hope to see them seeking out a quick answer rather than staring at the computer waiting for something to happen. I also have no patience for social humiliation including slapping your kids to shut them up or telling them that they are bad.
  4. Under what circumstances are you the most patient? When I am trying to work with students I am incredibly patient. I understand that I am the teacher and therefore they. don’t know what I do and hence the teaching part. I am also patient with my dad. It doesn’t do any good to get frustrated as he can’t control what he remembers or doesn’t.
  5. Lastly, thinking about the phrase, do you believe patience is a virtue? I would have to say yes. I think that people get overly annoyed at things that cannot be controlled. For instance the gas pump thing…The guy walking and pumping gas CAN move as quickly as possible knowing there are others who are waiting. He CAN’T control how fast the gas goes into the tank so if that is the hold-up then it really is too bad. Don’t dilly-dally when people are waiting behind you!

    • I was telling David about this topic and post yesterday as we were in the queue at Culvers and the car in front of the car in front of us wasn’t moving forward as the car in front of them had moved. David was getting antsy and I laughed. I said “They’ll know to move or the guy in front of us will honk the horn!” David agreed he doesn’t have much patience.
