A friendship between a shy, lonely girl and a lonely, forsaken dog which was destined to bring happiness to both.

Julia is a little girl who feels as though she doesn’t belong. She is lonely and because she doesn’t have what all the other kids her age have, she remains isolated and alone. When she sees a dog who seems to have no owner and nowhere to call home, Julia names him Bo Bo and a friendship is formed. 

I give this children’s story four out of five stars for the lesson it teaches and its relatability for any child who has ever felt alone. If reading this story to young children there should ensue a discussion about approaching strange dogs, but overall this is a heartwarming story. Even though Julia didn’t have what the other children had, she still had enough love to give. Also important is the fact that Julia’s mother works at an animal rescue so proper care is touched upon. Children wanting to adopt a stray animal should do so only with the proper education and the help of an adult.
