*****For any participants that do NOT like restrictions, please feel free to participate in any way you would like. It is great to read the contributions!****

  1. Set up a timer or sit near a clock so you can keep track of the six minutes you will be writing.
  2. You can either use one of the prompts (photo or written) or you can free-write.
  3. Get ready and write for 6 minutes, that is it! Can you write a complete story? Can you think of a new Sonnet? Can you write 400 words? 400? 500? There are no restrictions on what kind of writing you do, but you should try to be actively writing for six minutes.
  4. After you are done writing, include your word count and then post back to this page #Simply6Minutes or include your link in the comments section. Pingbacks are enabled.
  5. *Feel free to leave your work completely unedited. I believe it is good to see, especially for new writers, that even very seasoned writers don’t write a perfect first draft.*
  6. Have fun, challenge yourself if you’d like, read and respond to others’ posts.

Thank you for participating!

Sissy never asked for a friend or company, but one morning as she purred and walked around her mom’s ankles asking for breakfast a furry thing with along tail and flat body trotted into the kitchen, ate her food and put its snout in her coat. Sissy scrambled into the living room jumped on the coffee table and pretended to be a statue. Perhaps if she didn’t move it wouldn’t eat her. But, a half an hour later the thing was still staring at her. When Sissy’s paws moved the thing sprung forward, grasped Sissy and rolled on the carpet. Sissy was dizzy and let out a loud meow. The thing stopped and licked her all over. Oh, thought Sissy, this is it, now its going to eat me. But to her surprise it left the room and came back with a slice of ham. “Friends?” said the ferret. “Okay.”

  2. […] Samson was a shy little guy. The other kittens laughed at him even hurt him sometimes. They made fun of his big strong name making him cower from pitiful shame. Then one day he awoke with a new battle plan. He vowed to just be ‘whatever I am’.He ignored all those bullies and didn’t recede by simply asking for the things he would need.He got what he wanted and found their good grace with pride in his gentleness and awesome cute face. It was no more fun to bother him now. They couldn’t decide who HE was ‘cuz “WOW”.He’d done that.Simply 6 Minutes—Welcome To The Challenge: 04/06/2021 – Stine Writing (christinebialczak.com) […]
