Becky stood on the balcony of her city apartment and looked out over the city she loved. From her balcony she could see the city skyline and the cross upon the church’s steeple. She loved living in the city, with the hustle and bustle every day. When she decided to rent the apartment her parents warned her she would not be happy with all the noise and lights. Nights wouldn’t be dark like in the country. Food wouldn’t be fresh out of the garden each morning like in the country. There would be no peace and quiet like in the country.
Becky couldn’t understand but she felt more like the city mouse rather than the country mouse. She was happy, that’s all that mattered.

Nicely told, everything’s perspective and point of view. I love the country but enjoyed my time in the city. Their’s beauty in both places and a time to enjoy each. I thought you got this across well.

Thank you. I guess part of it is that I always wanted to live in Manhattan just for 6 months to try it. I love the hustle and bustle. Now with COVID I guess I wouldn’t get the same feel for it!

Yes, and the beauty of it is that no decisions like that have to be final! That is what makes life more exciting.

I’ve lived in both places and each has their own charms and drawbacks. In the time of covid, I’m glad I’m out in the sticks.

I can relate to Becky. Sometimes I miss the dark and quiet of the country, but I wouldn’t go back for more than a visit.

To each their own. And good for her that she discovered that she was where she belonged!

That’s my opinion too. If you try to make too many other people happy you end up miserable. And trust me, I have been down that route too!

Dear Christine,
As they say, different strokes for different folks. Some people are meant for city life. Nicely done.

As long as she’s happy. I’d soon be running back to the country!

I have always wanted to try to live in a big city. Maybe just for 6 months or so. A few months back I stayed at an Inn in Savannah Georgia, right near a park. I got NO sleep!! Haha, maybe I had better stay in the country.

As long as she’s happy that’s all that matters. She can always still go and stay with her parents in the country when she wants a break. 😊

Nice perspective. Certainly there are plenty of people who far prefer living in cities. I’ve done both and discovered I’m a country mouse. 🙂

Yay to Becky! And some of us find that we can be – at different times in our lives – happy as both city and country mice. Ain’t that grand?
