Autumn Polyptoton Poem
The leaves crackle as I walk down the walkway
Watching for small creatures to appear from under the leaves.
Mist covers my shoulders as the wind wisps through the path.
No sound other than the crunch of my feet
Crushing more leaves, leaving only fragments of summer behind.

I can hear the crushing of the leaves, they are falling everywhere here. I would love to see a fragment of summer somewhere under the autumn mist.

Such a lovely scene – and I agree with Roth that the ending line is a great closer!

Very popular name in the 70’s. Was your daughter-in-law by chance born in or around this decade? My closest friends were Kristen, Kersten, and Kristina!

Lots of leaf crunching going on. Maybe those crushed leaves would make a good cup of tea, one never knows>

Haha! With the amount of leaves I have to get rid of every year I could supply the whole country with free tea!

Nice last line about the “fragments” of summer left behind. I like the polyptotons on “leave”.

Thank you, Frank! That was an accident! Hahaha, I only planned the first one. Fun writing challenge. I love learning new things and polyptoton, which I don’t even know how to say, is a word I have NEVER heard before. Thanks!

The last two lines of this are perfection on its own.

Those were unplanned as far as the polyptoton challenge was concerned. Haha!
