Your prompt for JusJoJan January 1st 2023, is “resolution.” Use the word “resolution” any way you’d like. Have fun!

My Resolution

If I make a resolution its to have a bit more fun
Make a bowl of ice cream right before I take a run
Eat up all my supper even when its take-out food
Say thank you for store samples, I don’t want to be rude.
I’d get myself out walking, enjoy the sounds and sights
Go to bed real early, avoid those sleepless nights.
Eat nothing but my favorites, ’cause happiness prevails
We’ll see what being happy, for me, really entails!

Stream of Consciousness Saturday

Linda gives us the prompt each week. Join in here: https://lindaghill.com/2022/12/02/the-friday-reminder-and-prompt-for-socs-dec-3-2022/

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “twin/tween.” Use, “twin” or “tween” any way you’d like. Bonus points if you use both. Enjoy!

My sister and I look alike I guess. She is almost three years older than I am. She was almost a twin to my mother when comparing their photos from when my mother was young. Once, when I was in my early twenties, I had stopped by her condo and gone to get a drink. There was a picture on the refrigerator and I wondered why there was a picture of me and John, her husband at the time, on the refrigerator. Yes, you guessed it, it was her and John, but I swear I thought it was me! As we have aged I tend to look like a “twin” of how she looked at that age. One thing is true though, we sound very much alike on the phone. We are however not alike in any other ways that I can think of.

Now there’s my daughter. We have been told we look like sisters and I wouldn’t say twins there either. Some of my older pictures when put next to hers look like we could have been twins. Funny thing is we sound alike, laugh alike, and have many of the same mannerisms, even now that we haven’t lived in the same house for at least three years.

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “on your/my plate.” Use it any way you’d like. Have fun!

We were out on a date
It was there on my plate
a creepy crawler
maybe smaller
I tried not to scream
Was this part of a dream?
No chance in that
Food ended up on the mat
What did they say
when they took it away?
“Do you want more?”
But I ran for the door.

Stream of Consciousness Saturday

Linda is the host of this weekly writing prompt: https://lindaghill.com/2022/10/21/the-friday-reminder-and-prompt-for-socs-oct-22-2022/

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “bowl.” Use it as a noun or a verb—use it any way you’d like. Enjoy!

There are so many different kinds of bowls in the world that thinking of that word brings in this flood of visions. Like soup bowls, the pasta bowl my dad always liked to have his pasta in on Sunday nights, the popcorn bowl (that I still have but don’t really use for popcorn). Then my mind goes to Cannabis and how so many people make bowls at the pottery studio. Funny thing is, I was reading other posts and “bowling” was a topic. The word bowl and bowling in my head are so extremely different. Maybe it is because of the noun/verb thing. Anyhow, I have made many bowls in the pottery studio and I will probably be putting them on my Etsy store for the upcoming holidays. https://www.etsy.com/shop/StineMiniatures

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “back of the fridge.” Write the first thing that comes to mind when you think of the phrase “back of the fridge.” Enjoy!

The Back of the Fridge

The back of the fridge is the scariest place
there’s so much to see, but there’s so little space
Things move and mingle when they shouldn’t survive
Little things begin while the big growings thrive
Theres all different colors as everyone knows
’cause the back of the fridge is where everything grows.

You know it is strange because Stream of Consciousness seems like it should be a thought or a story but my mind automatically goes to a rhyming poem. The story of my life somehow? I don’t know what to make of it!😅

Mess

Hurricane Ian left a mess here in Florida but I am so very thankful we were not hit full on. This short poem is dedicated to all of the people affected by Ian.

There’s a mess on the lawn and a mess on the car
the damage is seen very near and real far
For there is no big “broomer” to clean up this mess
I’m dreading the work I must really confess
But it has to be done and be done ’til its gone
‘Cause I really must see my green grassy lawn.

One-Liner Wednesday – I love my neighbourhood

Linda G Hill is the host: https://lindaghill.com/2022/05/11/one-liner-wednesday-i-love-my-neighbourhood/

One item on my bucket list is to visit an old estate or abandoned building and have an interaction with a spirit, ghost, apparition, or whatever you want to call it, so that I can have proof in something that has always fascinated me!
