Written for dversepoets:

  • Pen a poem that is about FLYING/FLIGHT (NOT FLEEING)
  • Take ONE or MORE of our natural winged phenomena – bird, bat, insect, seed, flying fish! (but NOT mythical creature with wings, NOT mechanical objects either)
  • Your poem can be purely literal or mixed with metaphor or even allegory
  • Write as subject or object; 1st or 3rd person
  • Preferably use FREE VERSE (like Sandburg & Lawrence above) as that best suits the subject of flying!
  • If you use any poem as source or inspiration, please cite the original in your post [click links to read above poems in full]

Bats at home

there were seven creatures
black as night
flying in circles
there is one creature
black as night
flying in a circle
I cannot hear the clicking.
For bats disease spreads

Ragtag Daily Prompt: Explosive

Free Verse:

Tummy Trouble

I felt fine at first
then I felt the grumble
there was a slight rumble
then a sharp pain in the lower left
next to my belly button
then a gurgle
a squeaky whistle from inside
can anyone hear that?
the gurgle came back
followed by a pain
almost in the middle
of my lower back
which would explain
being hunched over
or maybe that is to
hide the noise
if I look will I see movement?
but if I can just get there
without any problems
my life won’t be marred
by an explosion!
