Simon’s voyage

A long, long time ago there was a man who thought that crossing the sea would mean freedom from his king. He planned for many weeks to make sure he had all the provisions he needed. All of this done in secrecy for if the king found out, he was surely going to the guillotine.

This man, Simon, was young and full of energy. He knew he needed at least four months of food for him and his crew of eight. They would need fresh water and a pit for burning wood.

When alas the journey began, Simon and his crew were headed West to find new land.  With the raging seas and the storm clouds, Simon knew this was going to be a voyage to freedom, freedom from the king or freedom from life here on earth.

Thursday photo prompt: Otherworldly #writephoto

Written for Sue Vincent’s Challenge: https://scvincent.com/2020/04/16/thursday-photo-prompt-otherworldly-writephoto/

The traveler

He looked and looked
and he could see
that the world
was near empty.

He did not know
how far he’d come
and now stuck here
felt sort of dumb.

Where was he now?
Where should he go?
alone in here
how would he know?

Oh me, oh my
he started to cry
Without some help
he knew he’d die.

With only one
pair of pants
He had to hurry
he had one chance.

The night grew dark
and no one came
he knew this was
the ending game.

He lay back down
upon the sand
closed his eyes and
died on land.

Thursday Photo Prompt: Bells #writephoto

Hosted by Sue Vincent: https://scvincent.com/2020/04/09/thursday-photo-prompt-bells-writephoto/

Sweet Scent of Bells

I made my sticks a teepee
and hoped that they would stay
I wanted to enjoy the bells
in case they went away.

I sat amongst the flowers
like living in a dream
the fragrance was as soft as silk
and smelling like a cream.

I found myself reliving
my joyful days of past
hoping that this sweetness
was always going to last.

Together: #writephoto

Thank you Sue for hosting! https://scvincent.com/2020/04/02/thursday-photo-prompt-together-writephoto/

As the sun sets…

As the sun sets on the horizon
we think of the beauty of the day.
We hope that this night will comfort us
And that love will guide our way.

Together we watch the fading sun
as though we’re saying goodbye
We hope tomorrow brings us peace
when the sun lights up our sky.
