Daily Compilation: Unknown Traveller

This is written for the following:

It wasn’t ’til October that the young man came to town
They described him as a gangster, he’s more like a tall clown
He wore a soft sombrero that later became a rag
the pathos that described him, they said he was a drag
Discrimination flowed not welcoming this poor soul
But thanks to other people, they let him play his role
In bringing much more pleasure to those both far and near
The glee that he emitted was shown from ear to ear.
No one minded that he stayed until he had to go
“When will you be back again?” the people want to know.

Bye, Bye Lady

In a pristine little colony
atop a tiny hill
there lived a little lady
Working in a little mill
She wore a dress and stockings
and shirt to match her shoes
When official news came to her
She really felt the blues
According to the paper
the mill was closing down
and now that little lady
would have to move right out of town.

Poor Old Billy

moniker is a nickname or pet name for a person
Taciturn is reserved or uncommunicative in speech
Amenable is open and responsive to suggestion; easily persuaded or controlled

Todays words:

Poor Old Billy

Billy was an old man who liked to walk alone
He liked his high security and didn’t use a phone
He walked out in the wilderness to see what he could find
And being himself taciturn, he really didn’t mind
that no one was amenable, they ran faster than he
the stickers had no meaning, those stuck to each big tree
One was of a duende, a gnome-ish sort of guy
His moniker was Elfie, most people could see why
One had a real sad face, the face seemed quite undone
An apology was needed, which never was real fun
All day he kept on walking, he really went too far
He barely even noticed when he got back to his car.
He still had no idea yet what stuck to the thick bark
The only thought he upheld was the spot where he did park.
He jumped into his mini van, happy to go home
He didn’t notice anything, especially the gnome
Who’d got into his vehicle, wanting a fast ride
But didn’t realize Billy would be singing there inside
the noise it was so horrible, the elf he had to leave
He jumped up to the front seat and pulled on Billy’s sleeve
Billy got so startled, so scared by that odd face
And now old Billy’s spirit is floating out in space.

Crepuscular baby
sweet as can be
Mama the doe
Waiting to flee
Afraid of the hunter
standing nearby
Needing to run
As those bullets fly.

The Breakup

“Are you friendly? Yes or No?”
Was all that she could write
On that little paper
Hidden in plain sight
She’d pass it to her boyfriend
The teacher’d have no clue
She’d want it back and answered
It was the least that he could do
The prom was coming shortly
She’d have to by a dress
She knew she’d look so pretty
She’d secretly confess
But when she got the note back
With nothing written on the line
A smug and evil smile
He thought his cruel joke was fine
A tear rolled down her pretty face
She thought there’s someone new
She didn’t know just where to look
Her sadness grew and grew
And then she stood up quickly
Not asking for a pass
She handed him a brand new note
“You are the biggest ass!”

Todays word is Crash

The Bird

Out on the road there was a crash
a real loud noise I heard
It seems a truck was full of trash
and the poor thing hit a bird.

The bird went down to the hot dirt
but looked up seeming fine
The trashman seemed like he was hurt
but he’d been drinking wine.

The police came there and took the guy
to jail ’cause he was drunk
The bird was up and started to fly
avoiding the trashman’s trunk.

So now the bird has little eggs
that babies they will hatch
and trashman has his shackled legs
the drunk police did catch.

Word of the Day

The Word of the Day is Sketches, I hope this word inspires you to write a story or a poem.

Sketches are the images
of art inside the mind
they come in different colors
in shapes of many kinds.
We often never see it
the shape we mean to make
but stress is often released
in a messy sort of take
sometimes they are done neat
and beauty is sincere
but other times we doodle
when a pen with paper’s near.

Word of the Day Challenge: meeting

The Meeting

Come on it
it’s just about time
time for that meeting
time for the sublime
thinking of the matters
that stay close at hand
trying to ignore it
not giving in to demand
ignoring all the effort
to pull your thoughts away
save the casual get together
for another day.
