Mom, are Mr. and Mrs. Finkle fighting again?

I don’t know? Why do you ask?

Well, Mrs. Finkle must have gotten locked out of the house and now she’s trying to get back in.

What do you mean she is trying to get back in? She has a key I’m sure.

I don’t know but Mr. Finkle is just watching her struggle.

He’s what?

Mom, you gotta come see this! I think Mrs. Finkle might be stuck!

Stuck where?

Just come here!

The Weekly Smile for the 26th of October, 2020 #weeklysmile

https://trentsworldblog.wordpress.com/2020/10/26/the-weekly-smile-for-the-26th-of-october-2020-weeklysmile/

I am not sure I have ever participated in the Weekly Smile but just reading Trent’s post made me smile! Thanks, I would say mission complete!

Anyhow, I have a few things to smile about…First, I picked up my new kitchen cabinets and David and I loaded them into the house. Now for the install….

Second, I was able to leaf blow my entire driveway and the edge of it on only one tank of gas!

Third, Lindsay stopped over Saturday night. I know kids love moving out into the world on their own but there is something to say about not being alone EVER since she was born! Lol! And now I’m supposed to get used to it?

It is nice to think of all the positives. Click on the link under the picture to participate via Trent’s site.

Fandango’s Flash Fiction Challenge #89

The image below is from Renate Vanaga at Unsplash.

“Yeah, Marcy, it’s me. I’m parked outside the coffee shop. They are so far up each others’ asses that he doesn’t even notice me parked across the street. What a cheating asshole!…..I know I’m only here for another minute, I want to get a picture. There is no way he is telling me I’m the crazy one……Yeah, well when I have this photo in my hand and his suitcase he can call his new girlfriend for a place to stay!…..Ew, you should see her! The wrinkles! She has to be about ten years older than him, either that or just aged really poorly!….Haha! Right?!?!?!…..Okay, let me get a picture and get out of here before he sees me. Dumb ass. Even I can see my car in the friggin’ reflection! What a scumbag. Well, he’ll have a surprise waiting for him on the front lawn!….Yup, all his shit!…Okay Marcy, I’ll call you later, bye.”

Saturday Mix – Opposing Forces, 24 October 2020

Our words this week are:

– melt and freeze

– rest and work

For MLMM: https://mindlovemiserysmenagerie.wordpress.com/2020/10/24/saturday-mix-opposing-forces-24-october-2020/

Life’s Truths

In the winter you freeze
in the spring you melt
these are the cards
we’re automatically dealt.

Before you rest
you must finish work
just because
your boss’s a jerk.

These are life’s truths
believe it or not
Or at least what I think
and that’s what I thought.

Paint Chip Poetry Prompt #43

Our paint chip words and phrases are cabin in the woodsdeviled eggscottonAquariusblossomshowtime, and night owl. The bonus angel card is trust (plus it has a cute unicorn on it that might make its way into someone’s poem). Use however many of these words and phrases you want. I don’t plan to use them all this week, just to mix things up a bit.

Now it’s your turn to write a poem on the theme To Night. You can write a letter to Night, like I did, or perhaps an ode.

The Popping Cinders!

We sat close to the flames. With each pop a cinder would be released; we would hold our breath to see where it landed. My grandpa had told me that when a cinder pops and lands on the skin, it is landing on the skin of a vampire. No one believed me. With each pop we jumped a little, hoping the cinder didn’t land on our own leg.
Pop!
The bright, burning cinder popped up into the air, made an arc and started coming straight back down, ready to land on….
All I could do was hold my breath…
(99 words)

Eugi’s Weekly Prompt – “Ghostly” – October 19, 2020

https://amanpan.com/2020/10/19/eugis-weekly-prompt-ghostly-october-19-2020-%f0%9f%91%bb/

First I want to “reblog” a poem I read today that I thought was phenomenal. I wanted to do a true reblog but I just don’t like how reblogs come out looking like my writing. Anyhow, check this out: Farrago Express https://farragoexpress.wordpress.com/2020/10/20/links-in-the-chain/ The title is Links in the Chain.

So now for my contribution:

Living Hell

From out of the shadows there come the souls

Of the children who have been lost in life

They seek out peace and a comforting world

Where, for them, there is no longer strife.

What has taken them you may ask?

Indeed, I wish I could tell.

To lose a little one, any which way

Is to a parent, a living hell.

Finagle – FOWC with Fandango

For Fandango’s Daily challenge: https://fivedotoh.com/2020/10/20/fowc-with-fandango-finagle/

verbINFORMAL•US

  1. obtain (something) by devious or dishonest means.”Ted attended all the football games he could finagle tickets for”
    • act in a devious or dishonest manner.”they wrangled and finagled over the fine points”

Good Acting

When we walked out to the mezzanine

My eyes were filled with joy

For there upon the stage below

Was my own born baby boy.

He had his hair brushed to the side

As his father taught him how

He had his tie done up real tight

To stay tied while he took a bow.

He knew that he was there to act

And acting is what he did

He didn’t have to finagle his crew

They were proud of this young kid.
