Tanka: Winter Solstice
The day is so short
Especially in the East
Too short to notice
Where the weather has turned cold
And spring is so far away.

Longest View
Longest moonlight view
During the cold and dark night
Lighting up the sky
A new beginning
to reflect upon your life
and find peace always.
The beauty of the future is greater than any concern that might emerge. The days continue and it all begins to feel normal, like a ritual you were made to participate in. Still, the concern is not considered, as it is an unthinkable fear. Instead of loving each new day even more than the one before, life becomes predictable, ordinary, mundane. It is not until a piece of this is taken away that the realization, that you no longer appreciate the beauty of the future, comes back to your daily thoughts.
We must love each day.
There is no turning back then.
Feel gratitude now.
Gratitude
How we see it come
Should not be a mystery
It should be with joy.
Crispy leaves lie still
Wind comes and sends these leaves home
Home is a leaf pile.
So much bravery
a selfless act of fate
credit not given.
As the lone wolf howls
His breath leaves a hot vapor
On his last victim.
All Hallows Eve starts
to make you scared and fearful
of the dark and night.
Meander through land
River making its own mark
leaves a path behind.
