Fandango’s Flashback Friday — December 9th

https://fivedotoh.com/2022/12/09/fandangos-flashback-friday-december-9th/

So this is from December 10th, 2020. It seems like when I finally remember to do Friday Flashback that is the one day that I have no posts, and most of you know I post/blog almost every day!

The Way I Feel

The way you look at me each day
sends shivers up my spine
I love your eyes and sexy voice
The way your hand holds mine

The joy you bring to me each day
makes my heart just skip a beat
You make me quiver in my shoes
and knock me off my feet.

Seeing you with me each day
makes me jubilant and fine
I’m glad that you have me to love
and that I have made you mine.

Fandango’s Flashback Friday — November 4th

Join the fun! http://Fandango’s Flashback Friday — November 4th

Go figure that when I remember to participate in Flashback Friday, there is almost never a post from that day any year I go to. So this was from November 4, 2019. I honestly don’t know if I even want to reread it because this is the year I lost my son and six days before what would have been his 20th birthday….
Okay, it really wasn’t bad. 👍🏻 (maybe just a little boring!)

https://christinebialczak.com/2019/11/04/update-from-my-desk-11-04-19/

Well, so much has transpired this past week, I don’t even know where to begin. I will do the random retell, I think that will be more interesting.

So Saturday was my birthday. I flew back from Florida that morning and then got spoiled by David and Lindsay all day. David got me a guinea pig! His name is Beary. That is short for Bearclaw. Bearclaw is the name of Penelope’s New Puppy (the book I wrote).

I had an update on Facebook that I have raised $345 for Babies Heart Run, the fundraiser dedicated to my birthday and November 10th which would have been Joey’s 20th birthday. My goal is $1000. Spread the word!

I decided to try and illustrate my picture books. I have been sending query letters out for three different books that I have written. I am not sure which I like best because they are all so different. When I look into what an agent is looking for I kindof match a manuscript with something they will hopefully be looking for. Some days I am so optimistic, other days I am convinced my writing is horrible and I will never get an agent. I think being and Author-Illustrator will be better than just Author. Saves time from having to find an illustrator I guess. I will be doing some online research to see what it necessary to know to be a picture book illustrator. Who knows? I am a pretty good artist.

I have been signing up for so many different groups, primarily for critiquing my work. If you know any picture book writers that want to work in some sort of critique group please send them my name or send them to my blog!

Have a great evening. Time for bed and just a little Mahjong!

Fandango’s Flashback Friday — May 6th

For the fun of looking back, reflecting, seeing growth or just participating…https://fivedotoh.com/2022/05/06/fandangos-flashback-friday-may-6th/

Here is my May 6th from 2020

Written for Di at Pensitivity101: https://pensitivity101.wordpress.com/2020/05/06/three-things-challenge-227/

Your three things today are:

NOTHING
RUSE
HEAVY

ain’t fallen for it

There ain’t nothing you can do
to make me fall for that trick.
I’ve heard it, been there, done that
so much it makes me sick.

Your ruse may be for fun
but let me tell you now
I’m a heavy sleeper
can’t tip me like a cow.

Sorry to ruin your fun
it looks like you might be sad
I might look like a fool
but you’re the one that’s been had.

Fandango’s Flashback Friday — February 18th

Fandango hosts Flashback Friday to remind us all of the progress we’ve made as well as the memories we cherish. https://fivedotoh.com/2022/02/18/fandangos-flashback-friday-february-18th/

This is a poem from February 2020. Neither 2020 nor 2021 have a February 18th prompt but his was close…

A Rose

What is all the ruckus?
Why do still shout
Don’t you see I’ve brought you
flower, rose no doubt.

I heard a little rumor
that flowers make you smile.
I’d walk through city traffic
I’d walk an extra mile!

I’d cycle through all my days
to make you feel my love.
You are so soft and gentle,
like white feathers of a dove.

Tale Weaver – #313 – Finding Something Forgotten – February 4th, 2021

The Cat finds his kite

The Cat in the Hat was somewhere brand new
he didn’t know who lived there or lived there with who.
He saw lots of toys and some stuff in the yard
He tried to look inside, curtains made it hard.

He thought that he’d knock on the door that’s bright red
Perhaps they’d know him by the hat on his head
Most people did know him for what he did wear
He was famous to most, though he couldn’t care.

So he walked up the walk and he stood nice and straight
he walked up the steps and he closed the front gate
He didn’t want pets that might live there to leave
Most kids did have pets, or he’d like to believe.

When all of a sudden from up on the roof
A balloon went by flying, then popped with a Poof!
Down to the ground a bright paper did float
He bent down to get it and saw it’s a note.

The note it was written in crayon and pen
Was the writing he noticed from a little boy Ben?
The note was so sweet that the Cat he did cry
Ben had an old kite that the Cat used to fly.

The Cat was so happy to get back his kite
He smiled so big with his teeth white and bright.
So Ben lived in this house that he just stopped by
And now he and Ben watch their kites blow and fly.

Fandango’s Flashback Friday — January 21st

Check this out on Fandango’s site

Well, unfortunately I don’t have any creative writing from January 21st of last year. I have a “From my desk” post which I will copy below. I guess it will be interesting to read where I was perspectively a year ago.

From my desk: 01/21/21

Hello WordPress! I miss my blog, my interactions, my writing. I am in Florida caring for my father and stepmother. Stepmother has not been well. She finished a chemo treatment last week that has left her so very sick. We took her to the hospital today because she was vomiting, dehydrated, and her blood count has been so low. She is there for fluids and a transfusion. My father is so unhappy as he doesn’t remember all the details and is so accustomed to her being with him. For anyone who prays, please say a prayer she gets better.

I miss my daughter and my David! I miss Brody and my guinea pigs. I DON”T miss the cold northern weather! Florida has been “chilly”, only in the 60’s mostly. Better than the 20’s!

I started tutoring. The young man I am tutoring is very kind and nice. You can tell he loves his family. The planning is taking a lot of my time as I haven’t been in the classroom in almost two years and even then I was in high school and my new student is in 6th grade. The one super-wonderful part of this is I have reconnected with an old friend who is an Occupational Therapist, who I worked with many years ago, but will be working with again.

I hope to get back more to my writing. I miss the challenges and the interactions. I miss reading all the other great work of my fellow bloggers. Feel free to tag me in a post if you think it is something I would really enjoy. I feel like I am missing so much!

Thanks for following and for reading. I miss this blogging family but should be back “full-time” soon.

Fandango’s Flashback Friday — January 7th

Fandango hosts this awesome reminder of all the time we spend with our words!

This is from January 7th last year. I do love The Cat in the Hat and haven’t done any fanfiction work in quite a while. Enjoy! https://christinebialczak.com/2021/01/07/distracted-your-daily-word-prompt/

The Cat in the Hat comes to play

The Cat in the Hat knew the mom would be mad
if she saw all the toys and goodies he had.
He tried to keep quiet and out of her way
to keep her distracted was the way he could stay.

He started with smiles and a proud, firm handshake
His brow started sweating, she would know it was fake
All he had to get by was this first “How d’ya do?”
Then to get to the kids, just he and those two.

So he started to walk on his back legs to show
that he knew that his back was the rude way to go.
The mother was pleased by the Cat’s gentle tone
She was happy to leave the three of them all alone.

The Cat took his bag and all the tricks he had found
The comics and posters and the car with the sound
He spread them all out on the rug in the room
He had his own bag and could clean with his broom.

The kids were so happy to see all his stuff
He wondered if they thought there wasn’t enough.
But for hours they played without one single fight
A perfect fun day led to a quite tired night.
