I had my first official author reading today at the town library. Three kids came. One was a cute little guy with his grandpa. Another my friends son. The third was an adorable second grader who seemed to think my books were good! She thought “Penelope Picks her Pals” was a funny tongue twister. She was right! It was hard reading out loud!
Anyhow, someday I hope to be sitting with tons of kids wanting to hear me read. I think my stories that I have coming, well when I get a sign-on, are super cute! And I’m doing all my own illustrations. Funny because everyone always asks if I drew the pictures. It will be nice to say yes!
Last week I think I sent out a dozen query letters. This time of year is super tough I have heard. I’m keeping my fingers crossed and my vibe positive!!!!
Have a peaceful Saturday evening. I’m heading out for a bite.
If you go through TSA at any US airport you will be asked to remove way too many clothing items and throw away much too much in the way of beauty products and lotions. That is unless you get TSA precheck. Then you go through with virtually no change but your bag on the belt. Precheck requires an FBI background check, so if you don’t mind Big Brother invading one more personal space, it is so worth it if you are a frequent traveler. My one piece of advice – Do not try to smuggle a chocolate bar onto the plane, in your pocket, because the minute you sit in your seat it will melt and become a hideous brown stain on the back of your pants. At that point, no one will believe that you like chocolate that much!
Can you believe that there was another shooting? Can you believe there have been 44 school shootings just this year? Can you even try to find a reason as to why this continues to happen? Can you imagine what these people are going through? Can you feel the pain they feel? Can you feel how scared they are? Can you think of a way to stop this? Can you make any sense of this? Can you find a way to keep others safe? Can our kids go to school and be safe? Can we go to work and be safe? Can we find a way to keep guns out of the hands of the wrong people? Can we work together to find a solution? Can we try to help the people who are so sick? Can we just stop this violence? Can I do something? Can you do something? Can we work together to do something? Can we please find a solution?
Wow, what a day! I submitted seven query letters for Hermit Crab’s Friends. I also joined a poetry website called PoetrySoup. I worked my brain all day! Pretty soon I have to start incorporating the physical work! Lol!
