Song Lyric Sunday

This week the theme is to find a song that mentions a telephone or any other type of communication device.

I love Travis Tritt and this seemed so appropriate for me at this moment in my life!

[Verse 1]
You say you were wrong to ever leave me alone
And now you’re sorry, you’re lonesome and scared
And you say you’d be happy if you could just come back home
Well, here’s a quarter, call someone who cares

[Chorus]
Call someone who’ll listen, and might give a damn
Maybe one of your sordid affairs

But don’t you come around here handin’ me none of your lies
Here’s a quarter, call someone who cares

[Interlude]

[Verse 2]
Girl, I thought what we had could never turn bad
So your leavin’ caught me unaware
But the fact is you’ve run, girl, that can’t be undone
So here’s a quarter, call someone who cares

[Chorus]
Call someone who’ll listen, yeah, or might give a damn
Maybe one of your sordid affairs
But don’t you come around here handing me none of your lies
Here’s a quarter, call someone who cares

  1. Great choice, Christine. Travis Tritt got back to his home and found out his wife had moved out while he was at work, and he came home to an empty house. He thought he had been robbed, as the front door was standing wide open, the back door was wide open, and he could see that everything that was in his house was gone, except for two pieces of furniture that she had left behind.  The sheriff’s department knocked on his door to serve him with divorce papers.  When an ex tries to rekindle a burned bridge, offering them a quarter to use a payphone to call “someone who cares” is a fiercely dismissive and satisfying way to move on.

    • Well it almost sounds like David…When he decided he didn’t want to be married anymore I couldn’t take barely any furniture because it came from “his family”. Needless to say when we moved to FL originally I sold most of my furniture from CT. The only reason it was mostly from his side was his dad passed away a few years ago and he took it all from his dads house. Since then I’ve bought myself “new” furniture that I love. Mostly from Facebook marketplace and some other thrift stores. Bargains, but really nice quality stuff.
