Here are this week’s prompts:

  1. Write a post inspired by the word service.
  2. Write a post in exactly fifteen (15) sentences.
  3. Would you rather travel to the past ot travel to the future? How far into the past/future would you want to go?
  4. What music and/or podcasts have you been listening to?
  5. Open up a dictionary to a random page and point to a word. Write a paragraph with that word as the main theme.
  6. List 10 things you would do if you didn’t have to work.
  1. I usually like to write the first thing that comes to mind when I see a word. Strangely, when I read “service” I immediately thought of a service station, which made me think of a rest area, which reminded me that when I am done blogging I should use the restroom. TMI I know, but…..
  2. I think if I had a choice I would travel to the past. I miss my late husband, my son, my dad, my mom, so much! I think I would only go back far enough to talk to my late husband and my son.
  3. This actually means my dad would be there too since he lived until 92 and was predeceased by my first husband and son!
  4. My point for going back in time wouldn’t necessarily be to change the turn of events, even though there are some that are horrible.
  5. It would be more to make peace with things I regret doing, saying, not doing, etc.
  6. I listen to both Audible and Spotify when I am doing anything that doesn’t involve using my computer.
  7. I listened to a really funny Audible original called “Murder at the Patel Motel”.
  8. It was one of those spoofy, half-serious, half-funny, with mysterious mixed in.
  9. It was free for me on Audible and I am glad I listened to it because the author has other free Audible selections that I will listen to now.
  10. On Spotify I have been listening mostly to my DJ because he plays the music I have listened to the most but it is always shuffled around and a bit of a surprise what he picks.
  11. My newest groups or individuals I have been listening to include The Revivalists, Old Dominion, and Lake Street Dive.
  12. Since I know I probably do NOT have a dictionary I asked the smart Google Machine to show me an image of a page out of Webster’s Dictionary.
  13. I picked the third image and picked the word, PUMP.
  14. I don’t have enough lines left to write a whole paragraph so I will include that as a sort of addendum at the end.
  15. Ten things I would do if I did not have to work would be; yoga, bird watching, making crafty things (even though I already do this), travel around the state of NC since it is new to me, cook using brand new recipes, make fancy cakes, volunteer at a dog shelter, crochet, drive all over the US to see the people I miss the most, and read more (either physical books and/or eBooks).

Milly wanted to show her husband that she was self-sufficient inside and outside the house, so when the pool pump died she decided she was going to buy a new one and install it herself. Buying the perfect pump was easy; she went through different websites, their ratings, and the recommendation of AI. Getting the pump shipped to the house was even easier! Next was the hard part, installing the new pump. Milly sat with her computer and started watching YouTube videos regarding the installation of this particular pump. By the third or fourth video the dread had fully crept into Milly’s heart. According to the videos, although the pool pump was one of the best, it was the hardest of them all to install! She started thinking that this was a perfect time to call a pool company and just get it installed. She’d prove herself to her husband some other way.

  1. Being retired, I have lots of time yet there is never enough of it to do all the things I want to do!! I like the story about Milly! Being self-sufficient doesn’t always mean doing it all yourself. It means being able to know your limitations and arrange for help when needed! I think handling the whole pump issue was very self-sufficient!

  2. I remember when there were service stations, and you actually got services, like check the oil and tires, and they put in the gas and wash the windows. Are there such things anymore? Weird to think about. 🙂
