Prosery: Dark and Stubborn Country

https://dversepoets.com/2025/12/08/prosery-dark-and-stubborn-country/

Darling, turn off the news!

Why? We need to know what is going on in the country

But it’s horrible to hear the things that man says to people and about people with no clear truth or evidence. Why is he so mean?

It’s like other presidents have said in the past, “The granites and schists of my dark and stubborn country” will prevail in the news because that is what news is made from.

But it’s so negative!

Yes, but unfortunately, that is the world we are now living in. There will be someone who comes along and changes it, there has to be, but we all have to sit back and wait for it to happen.

I don’t know if I can continue to listen to it. I almost think it would be better to not know anything; it seems much safer.

For Prosery, your prose—fiction or nonfiction—may be up to 144 words, not including the title. Some people like to make it exactly 144 words, but that is not required. You must not alter the words, change the word order, or insert words into the line. However, you may change the punctuation.

  1. Love the candor, it’s refreshing … I have infinite patience and will wait for the tide to turn ~ because it will!! In the meantime, I try not to engage with all the negative folks out there. Nice writing!!!!!

  2. When it’s now made clear that efforts will be made to intervene in democracies elsewhere, not in authotarian states, it means also an attack on everyone dissagreeing…. we will try to resist but I’m not sure how we can work against the massive propaganda from all direction.

  3. I can hear a conversation like this taking place all over the country and the world at-large. I don’t know if sitting back and letting it work itself out is the best course of action, but it may be all some are up to doing.
