Lisa’s prompt guidelines

Fall always feels like a season of both endings and beginnings, doesn’t it? For this week, let’s explore those transitions in a Quadrille—a 44-word poem, a form first shared with us by the wonderful d’Verse Poets Pub.

Your poem can lean into endingsbeginnings, or the mix of the two. And if you’d like an extra spark, here’s a thought from Friedrich Nietzsche:

I notice that autumn is more the season of the soul than of nature.

I did use Friedrich Nietzsche’s thought for my inspiration

It used to be leaves and Halloween treats
That brought people out, wandering the streets
what they didn’t know is Fall’s meant to share
Your worries, your dreams, your hopes, your fear
Hang on tight
You are in for the ride of your night!

  1. Christine, it was a welcome change to drop into your quadrille and discover its lively, street-corner energy. Your couplets knock out a playful rhythm, with Hang on tight / You are in for the ride of your night! providing a jolt of carnival excitement. You’ve delivered an enjoyably bright take on autumn as shared adventure rather than quiet reflection. Thanks for the smile.

  2. Christine, I like how you took Nietzsche’s thought and spun it into something playful yet a little eerie—I think “in for the ride of your night” really lands! 🍂 Fun take on fall’s deeper layers…
