Digging to China
If you dig to China, mama said
you’d end up there, not burnt and dead
I never knew how long it’d take
I never knew how much’s at stake
And so I’m here, over in the US
with shovel and gloves, to stay clean I confess
I’ll start to dig early tonight
And hope that China is warm and bright
They are my antipodean in case you care
I live so far away from there
In fact I might just try to see
If I can have someone dig with me
And when I get to the molten core
I’ll crawl back home and fly for sure!
