Punam’s prompt guidelines
- Write a food-related poem in any form
I guess I was just in a rhyming mood….
************************I wrote this**************************
The Cat in the Hat was filled with pride
when both the children were found inside
They spent their home time all alone
Cooking a cake, a pie, and scone
The Cat brought things like milk and salt
The cake that flopped was not his fault
The kids don’t care cause it tastes great
An empty dish is this cakes’s fate
When mom comes home the Cat can leave
The kids made cake, mom can’t believe!
**********************and then I wrote this************************
Of all the foods that I can make
The hardest is a layer cake
I make each part and smile with pride
But when it tilts my joy has died
I like the flavor dark and sweet
I find that chocolate’s the best treat
With frosting dark as the darkest night
My brain just loves the gooey sight
In the end it all tastes great
Lasting long is not its fate

My brain just loves the gooey imagery that you’ve rendered here in the second poem, Christine! And that first poem is delightful! ❤

They were terrific. Very energetic. Nice flows. The cat knows. Your talent in your words and sentences really shows.

I really love these – but especially the second, homemade baking is simply too scummy to last!
