James sat on the sidewalk, leafing through the book, trying to find that one quotation that had spoken to him the first time he read it. That had been a long time ago, but James was sure if he kept at it he would find the phrase he was looking for. Minutes passed, then hours, then days, and still James sat and searched. Some say he sat for so long he froze in place and was unable to get up after a time in the same position.
Well, no one bothered James once they knew how dedicated he was to finding that one quotation, even his family let him be. It wasn’t until his great grandson came upon him and tried to ask him a question that people realized James had actually turned to wood. The poor boy was horrified that this was his great grandpa and fell into his mother’s arms wailing.
To this day, if you walk into the village and look for James, you will find him sitting on the sidewalk, leafing through his book, looking for that one special phrase. Don’t bother talking to him though, he won’t respond.

This was so clever! There’s a lesson here about not leaving us overthinking, intrepid types alone for too long. Bravo!!

Haha. James needed to use sticky notes and highlighter pens. What dedication he showed, in his search for that quotation. It must have been a good one. I like the horrified reaction of the great grandson – poor little thing. Funny.

‘I’ll have it a minute, just hold on…’
We’ve all done it, and there’s something quite logical about getting solidified in the narrow search if we can’t let go.
A fun story.

Laughing here. We’ve all had moments like that when we can’t find the piece that spoke to us so clearly, so we just keep searching…
