I try my hardest not to be sad on Mother’s Day. My daughter is wonderful and I know she loves me. My late husband Bob started a thing that he bought me a yards worth of flowers for planting in the yard for Mother’s Day. The year after he died my son, who also passed, had gone out and bought me all of the plants and more! Now they are both gone and it makes me so sad.
My mother died when I was 23 and I honestly don’t remember that much about celebrating Mother’s Day except I think we tried to make her breakfast in bed…But she was always up first so I might just be thinking of Father’s Day.
Yes, that was sort of a downer for Sunday Poser but I am still thankful that I had two beautiful, healthy children and still have one who I am close to.

I miss my Mum who passed away in January 2018. In the UK, we celebrate Mothering Sunday in March, so with the May one elsewhere in the world, Mum got two celebrations as Bro and SIL in NZ never forgot.

Its hard because it is supposed to be a day to celebrate yet it brings about pain to so many

It is tough for you no doubt. My grandma lost her daughter ( my mother) early on and she never talked about my mom to any of us. You remember your son, celebrate his accomplishments and have a trust going on in his name. Sending you love and hugs.

How old were you when your mom passed? I guess the point of the celebration is to give credit to the act of motherhood, no the longevity of it.

I was a few months short of six. Yes indeed to my way of thinking it is indeed a privilege to become a mom. I admire your courage and fortitude my friend

Losing people we love is so hard…and so unfortunately common.

That’s life. But with loss we learn to be strong too.

Sometimes it is best not to reflect on what we lost and just be thankful for what we have.

I hope you were able to commemorate the day with your daughter. I’m a bit sad today too since my mother is gone. Still I went out to dinner with my husband…

I suppose with all that life throws at us we need to find the positives, not focus on the negative.

I actually worked and I will tell you that what makes me so happy is to see first time mothers on this day.
