  • Write an ekphrastic poem inspired by the music of Liebestod, the final, dramatic music from Wagner’s 1859 opera ‘Tristan und Isolde’, which you can listen to above;

With wonder and awe
they venture in peace
looking for all that is to be
Foolishly they believe and are lost
for the love that they now share
is not a blessing but a curse

  1. Your brief and evocative poem captures the lovers’ quest for fulfilment only to discover the reality of their love, with succinctness.

    Why write a long opera when you can do it in six lines! Bravo Christine 👏
