      • Actually, a lot of cruises have activities for single people. Even if there weren’t specific things there is so much to do socially that you kind of just make new friends with the people arournd you. We ended up talking to some of the same people every day. In fact, my daughter texted me to let me know that she had gone to another traveler’s stateroom to see the books she had brought. Overall, everyone seems really friendly.

      • I’ve always kind of assumed that singles activities on cruises, or anywhere other than church* for that matter, are mainly focused on getting drunk (and maybe hooking up), so I wouldn’t be interested, and that I wouldn’t really have anything in common with people on a cruise. But I suppose I shouldn’t rule out trying it someday…

(*And singles activities at church are mostly focused on older people with kids whom I still have little in common with, I know that from experience)

      • Well, from all of my experiences, cruises are for having fun, doing fun things, and then going to your own cabin to sleep until you do it again the next day. Of course, people do drink a lot in some cases but for the most part, there are shows and dancing, karaoke, lip sync, and other contests. Just pure fun. My daughter definitely drank more than I did and she did mingle with others her age. I kept to myself and just had a good time.
