Gone 29 Years

So many years
have already gone by
Where has the time gone?
No longer here, why?
I’m not sure I can
remember it all
it wasn’t the plan
no idea how to fall
I lost you too soon
my mother goodbye
I miss you so much
I no longer cry
Maybe you’ve been here
watching along
but you weren’t here
that was so wrong
You weren’t to blame
for leaving this earth
I’ll never forget
your love and your worth

  1. Ahh, we should yak. I believe I can help you with your questions. For me: Both parents gone; two really good/great friends committed suicide; one great friend killed by a car-jacker in L.A., and too many loved ones gone to even count.

BUT!… my Spiritual belief is still at no less than 100%, I promise that.

I will contact you privately, one way or another. Let’s discuss this stuffs.

However, for BOTB on January 1st, a really excellent, traditional way to begin the New BOTB Year is to use two songs which mention Margaritas or Tequila. (Although any hooch will work well. Think of it as “Toasting the New Year”, and then let your imagination run wild.)

Literally, *anything* your imagination can come up with will be fine & be appreciated by all.

    Hope 2 C U there!

I can certainly feel the ache in your heartfelt poem. I lost my Pa 27 years back, and my Ma 18 years ago. Nothing has ever been quite right since.

Although I have extremely solid, educated Spiritual faith, and wasn’t terribly concerned about my Ma’s well-being when she passed, right after she did so, a man at the hospice where she’d been staying handed me a pamphlet which included this:

    [Link> GONE FROM MY SIGHT

It put things in perspective so well for me (and not even from an overtly Biblical viewpoint) that it has never left me. I still have the pamphlet and (as you can see) I still share that beautiful sentiment and wisdom with folks. I eagerly anticipate the day when they will say about me, “Here he comes!”

Now, on to a less melancholic topic . . .

May we BOTBers expect you to be joining us again on New Year’s Day with a sizzling hot, new music Battle with which to begin 2024?

If not, please bring a note from your doctor, Jimmy Page, at the David Gilmour University Hospital of Cambridge, England, and / or documentation explaining the reason for your absence on a form with the Rod Stewart Hip Replacement Center letterhead. ;^D

I hope you and your family are doing very well, and hope to see you at BOTB on Monday.

    • Hahahaha, I have a fake hip but had the surgery so long ago I don’t think I can get a doctors note now. I am hoping to participate. My daughter is arriving on the 1st so I have tonight and tomorrow to do my research. Is there a topic or anything I need to know about?
Thanks for sharing the pamphlet. I have just lost so many people who were the closest to me that I don’t know what to believe anymore when it comes to spirituality or religion or any of that.

There’s no question that life can sometimes seem downright brutal. I’ve lost some loved ones in tragic ways. (Two really good friends committed suicide, and another great friend was killed by a car thief.) In 2019, a friend of mine lost both her husband and a son within about 5 months of each other. Yeah, life is unquestionably a School of Hard Knocks!

As for a January 1st BOTB installment, *anything* at all would be fine. A lot of times what helps people is to conjure up some sort of theme. For example, maybe think of your two favorite songs that mention the color blue (or any other color). You love to write, so perhaps two versions of a song that mentions letters, or writing. Or even two *different* songs that each mention a letter or writing. Maybe two versions of a song that have always reminded you of your daughter? Tonight will be New Year’s Eve, so maybe two radically different versions of a song based on Auld Lang Syne.

Really, the possibilities are as wide as one’s imagination.

        Bless And Be Blessed!!
