My Daughter
For my daughter, I’d do anything
She’s all I have left of my old life
Her beauty makes my heart sing
Being with her I feel no strife
She’s all I have left of my old life
So many years with so little left
Being with her I feel no strife
She fills a place in my heart bereft
So many years with so little left
Our relationship allows me to cope
She fills a place in my heart bereft
Looking forward I only see hope

The pantoum is a poetic form originating in Malay where poets write quatrains (4-line stanzas) with an abab rhyme scheme and repeat lines 2 and 4 in the previous stanza as lines 1 and 3 in the next stanza.

Well crafted Pantoum! I think you could add another stanza and really make the form bend to your will! And your daughter is a real beauty!

Well, perhaps I will add to it. Is it typically three stanzas?

The Pantoum can have an infinite number of stanzas – they are usually longer than 2 stanzas so yes, 3 stanzas wouldn’t be over doing it!
