For today’s prompt, write an odd poem

Odd Doesn’t Work

For so many people odd just doesn’t work
Things come in pairs, its some sort of a querk
My mom always said friends work better in pairs
‘Cause three is a crowd, one thinks nobody cares
Couples and babies, one girl and one boy
Even most games have some even-type ploy
A car has two seats, two right up in front
Calling shotgun fast is always the stunt
for anyone riding in anyone’s car
Just going downtown or even quite far
Then there are days whose numbers are odd
But they are all bad, made by someone who’s flawed
Like the thirteenth on Friday, which we all know is bad
But parents of triplets know three’s what they had
They think they are lucky and maybe I’ll try
to feel odd is more lucky, although I don’t know why.

  1. A cute “odd” poem! I’d have written this as an Oddquain! (an unrhymed syllabic poem of 5 lines with a syllable count of 1/3/5/7/1) A Crown Oddquain is a series of 5 Oddquains linked by a common theme…. The November PAD Chapbook looks like a really fun challenge!
