What makes a good neighbor?

Knowing that neighbors can be old or young, rich or poor, sick or healthy, I think the best thing to expect is someone who is respectful of your privacy, your need to feel like you are at your home, not partying at theirs, and someone who makes a true, honest attempt to make their home and yard look nice. We live in a neighbor hood where there are mansions and there are tiny, little bungalows. Some are real nice, others not. We have one neighbor who has this “shrine” in their yard honoring their son who must have died a few years ago. I think it is quite gawdy, but they keep it nice and if they think that is what he would have wanted, so be it. Some people complain that its an eye-sore. But then we have the neighbor who rarely cuts his lawn, has crap all over the back yard, needs to freshen peeling paint on the outside…I’ll take the shrine over the peeling paint…Just saying.

    • We have the one “town crier” neighbor who insists all the other neighbors are appalled at the sight of this shrine situation but honestly, its not like its a McDonalds sign in our backyard and there aren’t blinking lights or sound, so I really don’t know who it hurts. If something like that is going to supposedly bring down my property value than whoever determines it is an idiot in my book.
